Our Commitment

ReNew Market is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.

We believe that sustainable commerce should be accessible to all. Our goal is to meet or exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the EU Web Accessibility Directive and the EU Accessibility Act (EAA, effective June 2025).

Standards We Follow

We aim to conform to the following accessibility standards:

• WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the primary international standard for web accessibility
• EU Accessibility Act (EAA) — applicable to digital services in the European Union
• UK Equality Act 2010 — requires reasonable adjustments for digital services
• ADA Title III — US courts have applied this to commercial websites

Measures We Have Taken

• All product and profile images include descriptive alt text
• All interactive elements (buttons, links, form fields) are reachable via keyboard navigation
• Focus rings are visible on all interactive elements for keyboard users
• Colour contrast ratios meet the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum of 4.5:1 for normal text
• ARIA labels are applied to icon-only buttons and navigation elements
• Forms include descriptive labels, error messages, and required field indicators
• Content is structured with semantic HTML headings (H1–H3) for screen reader navigation
• The site is functional at 200% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling
• Animations can be reduced by users who have "reduce motion" set in their OS preferences

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility compliance, we are aware of the following current limitations:

• Video captions: Sellers can upload .srt or .vtt caption files with their product videos, or request auto-generated captions powered by AssemblyAI. Auto-captions are available in English; accuracy may vary. The video player includes a CC toggle button for enabling/disabling subtitles.
• Map view: The local-first map view uses Leaflet, which has limited screen reader support. All items on the map are also accessible via the standard grid view with the same filters applied.
• PDF tax reports: Downloadable tax reports are in CSV format, which is accessible via spreadsheet software. A PDF version with structured headings is planned.
