- Provide accurate legal name, business address, and tax identification information
- Have a valid bank account or payment method capable of receiving Stripe payouts

Fees & Commission Structure
Listing Fees
ReNew Market does not charge listing fees. You can list items for free with no per-listing charges.
Platform Fee
ReNew Market charges a 9% platform fee on each completed sale. This fee is split as follows:
- Buyer portion (5%): Added to the item price at checkout, paid by the buyer
- Seller portion (3%): Deducted from the seller's payout (reduced to 2% for ReNew Pro subscribers)
- ReNew Sustainability Fund (1%): Allocated to sustainability charities, local artist grants, and seller eco awards
Payment processing fees (Stripe rate: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are passed through to the buyer separately and are not platform revenue. You receive the net amount (sale price minus your seller fee) via Stripe.
Optional Fees
- Promoted listings: $2.99 per week to boost a listing in search results and the browse feed
- Shipping labels: Carrier rates via Shippo/EasyPost when generated through the platform โ no markup
ReNew Pro Subscription
The ReNew Pro plan ($5/month, cancel anytime) reduces your seller fee from 3% to 2%, includes 1 free promoted listing per week, unlocks flash auctions (1-day), reserve pricing, auction analytics, advanced dashboard with CSV export, and priority support. Eco goal achievements at Gold and Platinum levels unlock additional free promoted listings for Pro subscribers.
Eco Goal Rewards
Higher Eco Levels unlock visibility rewards rather than fee reductions. Silver sellers earn a verified eco badge. Gold sellers receive 1 additional free promoted listing per week. Platinum sellers are featured on the homepage and receive 2 additional free promoted listings per week. These rewards apply to all sellers, with Pro subscribers receiving additional promotional bonuses at each level.
Resale Listings ("Repop")
When you list an item you previously purchased on ReNew Market ("Repop"), your fee deduction (3% Free, 2% Pro) and the buyer's total are the same as for any other sale. A 30-day cooldown from the delivery date applies before you may relist a purchased item.
When another seller relists an item you originally upcycled or made, your handle appears on the resale listing's product page as the "original creator" โ a link back to your seller profile โ provided you have not opted out of being credited. You may opt out at any time via Settings โ Privacy โ "Show me as the original creator when my items are resold." Opting out suppresses the credit on the resale provenance block; opting back in restores it on future resales only. Full terms are in Section 5.10 of the Terms of Service.
Seller Obligations
- Ship promptly: Items must be shipped within the processing time stated in your listing. Failure to ship within a reasonable timeframe may result in automatic order cancellation and refund to the buyer
- Provide tracking: All orders must be shipped with valid tracking through a platform-approved carrier. Tracked shipping with confirmed delivery is required for seller protection under the ReNew Market Protection Program
- Respond to messages: Respond to buyer messages within 48 hours of receipt
- Respond to disputes: Respond to open disputes within 48 hours. Failure to respond may result in an automatic ruling in the buyer's favour
- Maintain accuracy: Ensure all listings accurately represent the item's condition, measurements, and features
- Update availability: Mark items as sold or remove listings promptly if an item becomes unavailable outside the platform
- Tax compliance: You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes on your sales income
Listing Standards
All listings must:
- Include accurate, clear photographs that genuinely represent the item's current condition
- Provide an honest description that discloses all known defects, wear, or limitations
- Select the correct condition grade (Upcycled, Excellent, Good, or Fair) that matches the item
- Only apply sustainability badges that genuinely and verifiably apply to the item
- Use a price that represents the item โ artificially inflated prices used to offer fake discounts are prohibited
- Not contain external links, phone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information designed to conduct transactions off-platform
Misrepresenting an item's condition, authenticity, or origin is a material breach of this agreement.
Performance Standards
To maintain a good standing seller account, you are expected to:
- Maintain a seller rating of 4.0 or above (based on buyer reviews)
- Keep your dispute rate below 2% of completed orders in any 90-day period
- Ship items on time (within the stated timeframe) for at least 95% of orders
- Respond to buyer messages within 48 hours at least 90% of the time
Sellers who fall below these thresholds may have their listings reduced in search visibility, have listing creation temporarily restricted, or in severe cases have their account suspended. We will provide a written warning before any such action except in cases of fraud or severe policy violation.
Prohibited Behaviours
The following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account action:
- Off-platform transactions: Soliciting buyers to complete transactions outside ReNew Market to avoid fees
- Feedback manipulation: Offering incentives for positive reviews or manipulating the rating system
- Shill bidding: Creating fake demand through false offers or using secondary accounts to inflate interest
- Fee circumvention: Listing items at artificially low prices and charging separately for "shipping" or "handling" above actual costs
- Duplicate listings: Creating multiple simultaneous listings for the same physical item
- False badge claims: Applying sustainability badges to items that do not genuinely meet the badge criteria
- Account sharing: Using another person's seller account or allowing others to use yours
- Harassment: Harassing, threatening, or abusing buyers, other sellers, or platform staff
- Review manipulation: Engaging in any conduct prohibited by the Reviews & Endorsements Policy โ including posting fake or AI-generated reviews, undisclosed insider reviews, paying for or suppressing reviews, or misrepresenting social proof
Suspension & Termination
ReNew Market reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate a seller account for any of the following:
- Three or more policy violations within any 12-month period
- Any single severe violation (fraud, counterfeit goods, harassment, illegal items)
- Failure to complete or maintain KYC verification
- Providing false or misleading information during registration or verification
- Sustained failure to meet performance standards after written warning
- Chargebacks exceeding 1% of transactions in any 90-day period
Suspended sellers may appeal within 30 days by contacting support. Appeals are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team within 5 business days. During an appeal, the account remains suspended. Listings from suspended accounts remain visible to buyers with a "Seller unavailable" notice until orders are resolved.
Upon permanent termination, outstanding payouts for completed orders will be processed at the next standard payout date. Payouts for disputed orders will be held pending resolution.
Payouts & Tax Obligations
Payments are processed via Stripe. Net earnings (sale price minus 3% seller fee, or 2% for Pro subscribers) are paid out according to Stripe's standard payout schedule (typically 2โ7 business days after a transaction completes, depending on your bank).
For calendar year 2025 and forward, ReNew Market is required by U.S. federal law (Internal Revenue Code ยง6050W, as amended by H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025) to file IRS Form 1099-K for sellers who receive, in a calendar year, (i) more than $20,000 in gross payments AND (ii) more than 200 separate transactions through the platform.
Several states (currently Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont, Illinois, Virginia, and others) impose lower state-level thresholds โ typically $600 โ and ReNew Market will issue state 1099-K filings as required by your state of residence.
You are solely responsible for reporting all taxable income whether or not you receive a Form 1099-K, including all applicable income taxes, sales taxes, and other taxes on your earnings. Annual earnings summaries are available in the Tax Report section of your dashboard. ReNew Market does not provide tax advice; consult a qualified tax professional for your circumstances.
These terms are provided as-is and cannot be edited, revised, or otherwise modified without the express written consent of ReNew Market LLC.
