Terms of Service

1. Overview

Welcome to ReNew Market ("Platform," "we," "us," or "our"). ReNew Market operates as a marketplace connecting buyers and sellers of upcycled, restored, repaired, and sustainably sourced goods.

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all policies incorporated by reference, including our Privacy Policy and Buyer Protection Policy.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a legally binding agreement to use the Platform. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.

ReNew Market reserves the right to verify your age at any time and to suspend or terminate accounts that do not meet eligibility requirements.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

• Users must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

3.2 Account Suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse Platform systems.

4. Listings and Product Representation

4.1 Seller Obligations

Sellers must:

• Accurately describe item condition, including all defects, wear, and modifications
• Clearly disclose all repairs, restorations, or alterations made to an item
• Avoid misleading, exaggerated, or unverified sustainability claims
• Use accurate, unedited photos that represent the actual item
• Provide measurements where applicable

4.2 Buyer Acknowledgment

Buyers acknowledge that:

• Items listed on ReNew Market are pre-owned, modified, or repaired
• Variations in quality, colour, and condition are expected in secondhand goods
• Sellers are independent third parties — ReNew Market does not inspect or guarantee item quality

5. Prohibited Items

The following items may not be listed or sold on ReNew Market:

• Counterfeit goods or items misrepresenting brand identity
• Illegal items under applicable local, state, or federal law
• Hazardous materials or unsafe repaired goods
• Recalled products that have not been properly remediated
• Items that infringe on intellectual property rights
• CITES-regulated goods made from protected species

Violations may result in immediate listing removal, account suspension, and referral to relevant authorities.

6. Transactions

• All payments must be processed through the Platform's approved payment system (Stripe)
• Orders are binding contracts once payment is completed
• Funds are held securely and released to sellers upon confirmed delivery
• ReNew Market charges a platform commission on each completed transaction (disclosed at checkout)

6.1 Platform Role

ReNew Market acts solely as an intermediary. We do not manufacture, inspect, or guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of items listed by third-party sellers unless explicitly stated.

7. Shipping and Delivery

• Sellers must ship items within the timeframe stated in their listing
• Tracking information must be provided for all shipments where available
• Risk of loss or damage transfers to the buyer upon confirmed delivery to the delivery address
• Sellers are responsible for packaging items safely and appropriately

8. Returns and Refunds

Due to the nature of upcycled and restored goods, most sales are final unless specific conditions are met.

8.1 Eligible Returns

Returns are permitted when:

• The item is materially different from the listing description
• The item arrives damaged beyond the disclosed condition
• The item is counterfeit or unsafe

8.2 Non-Eligible Returns

Returns are not permitted for:

• Minor wear consistent with the item description and photos
• Buyer remorse or change of mind
• Fit or style dissatisfaction on clothing items with accurate measurements

8.3 Claims Process

• Claims must be filed within 7 days of confirmed delivery
• Buyers must provide clear photo or video evidence of the issue
• Sellers may respond to claims before Platform intervention
• ReNew Market reserves final authority in all dispute resolutions

9. Dispute Resolution

• Users must first attempt to resolve disputes directly through the Platform's messaging system
• If unresolved, either party may file a formal dispute through the Platform
• ReNew Market reserves the right to make final determinations on all disputes
• Arbitration may apply depending on jurisdiction and the nature of the dispute

10. Fees

ReNew Market may charge the following fees:

• Transaction fees on completed sales
• Seller service fees
• Optional promotional fees for enhanced listing visibility

All applicable fees are disclosed before checkout and before listing publication. We reserve the right to update our fee structure with reasonable notice.

11. Intellectual Property

Users retain ownership of the content they upload (photos, descriptions). By listing on ReNew Market, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, promote, and distribute your listing content for the purpose of operating the Platform.

Sellers may not list counterfeit goods, use copyrighted material without permission, or misrepresent brand ownership. Upcycled items must not create confusion about original manufacturers.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ReNew Market is not liable for:

• Product defects, safety issues, or inaccuracies in listings
• Seller misrepresentation or fraudulent listings
• Lost, stolen, or damaged shipments (beyond our Buyer Protection programme)
• Indirect, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Platform

13. Termination

Accounts may be suspended or terminated for:

• Violation of these Terms or any Platform policy
• Fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive activity
• Listing prohibited items
• Abuse of the dispute or returns system

We reserve the right to terminate accounts at our discretion with or without prior notice for serious violations.

14. Changes to Terms & Governing Law

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify users of material changes via email or prominent in-app notice.
